Kate and Jo are the evil yarny masterminds behind The Golden Skein. Enablers of the highest order, they have combined their mutual love of gorgeous yarn to bring you exclusive colours from independent dyers across the globe.

Kate - grinning like an idiot

Kate – grinning like an idiot!

Kate is a law lecturer by day and knitter by night. Her yarn addiction was well and truly fuelled when she took a part-time job at Loop London for a year or so. Kate writes a blog and has published several of her own knitting designs as Kate’s Twirl. In June 2013, Kate became the Co-ordinator for P-Hop (Pennies Per Hour of Pleasure) which is a fundraiser for MSF (Medécins Sans Frontières – Doctors without borders) and can be seen at various yarn events around the country manning the P-Hop stall, along with an army of volunteers (including Jo!) As part of this, she blogs and tweets @MSF_PHop as well as in her own right as @katestwirl and not forgetting  @TheGoldenSkein. You may also have heard Kate operating as a roving reporter and occasional guest on the iMake Podcast.

Jo Milmine The Golden Skein

Jo is a teacher and former RAF Officer. Owner of a magpie-like tendency for beautiful yarn, she turned her mind to world  domination and spawned The Golden Skein – after all, it is good to share!  Voice of the Shinybees knitting and craft comedy podcast, she blogs.  In September 2013 Jo returned from a 2 year period living in Limpopo, South Africa. It was here, inspired by the beauty of the country and its fantastic wine – sorry, yarns – that the seed of the Golden Skein began to grow.  Jo is also a tweeter: @shinybees

Favourite Colour: Red

Favourite Yarn Blend: Doesn’t care, as long as it comes in self-stripe!

Drink usually accompanying knitting: Red wine. South African (of course), usually from Stellenbosch.
