Of course, there is only one way to start our project 365 for #FreeYourSkeins2015, and that is with our very first pattern designed for The Golden Skein: Kunye by Clare Devine. It’s a paid pattern priced at £3.50.
This is a knitted, crescent shaped shawl with a lace beaded border. This would be a great pattern to knit in any dyeing style of yarn: gradient, variegated, semi solid or solid would all work really well and produce interesting effects. The structure would cope well with any yarn base too; you could use anything from a 75/25 Merino/Nylon blend up to 100% silk or alpaca/silk blends. With the stocking stitch body, this pattern lends itself to playing with stripes and colour too. There are also lots to play with on the beaded lace section. You could leave the beads out altogether, or create a variety of effects with different colours, type and size of bead. The perfect all rounder.
We currently have a KAL ongoing for this pattern in The Golden Skein Ravelry group. Come and join us!
