The ‘Traveling Vine Scarf’ by Andi Clark comes straight out of the ‘Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders’ print book and with a title like that, it was always going to be the case that some of those patterns would find their way into #FreeYourSkeins2015!
The pattern is for a lace knitted scarf, with a leaf patterned border, which is knitted on afterwards. It’s a light and airy scarf that would work well going in to spring or summer, with the pretty lace pattern showing off the yarn without being too warm.
To make the most of a lace pattern like this, a semi solid or solid would be your dyeing style of choice, to avoid the colour changes in a variegated yarn competing with the stitch pattern. In terms of bases, you could really play around with fibre content. Fluffy baby alpaca would add a touch of softness, a silk yarn would add glamour and a high twist yarn would really allow that stitch definition to stand out.
What would you knit yours in?
