Adding texture with fur yarn
As soon as I saw the ‘Frost Fingerless Gloves’ by J L Fleckenstein, they immediately brought to mind the White Witch in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, by CS Lewis. These would be totally appropriate hand wear whilst whistling along on one’s ice sleigh in Narnia, and the same is equally true of a cold and frosty Scotland, I think!
For the main body of the mitts, I’d go for a 100% merino or BFL or a sock suitable base, to make them hard wearing. Alpaca blends would add a touch of luxury and you could carry this on up to the cuff to give and understated halo to the project, rather than full-on fluff. I think it’s entirely befitting and indeed it would be remiss not to crack our the fun fur for the cuffs and hand holes, as the pattern is written. If you can find one with glitter in it too, so much the better!
Which yarn would you knit these in?
