The pretty lace panels in ‘Artesian’ by Romi Hill add real architectural interest to this triangular shawl pattern. Inspired by subterranean waterways, this design is a great way to showcase a semi solid yarn, with the lace sections spilling dramatically over the edge of the shawl.

With lace playing such a lead role in this piece, semi solid or solid colour ways are your best option, as the lace would be lost in variegated yarns. The stitch pattern and design lends itself to any fibre base, however a high twist 100% wool yarn would really allow the texture to stand out.

What would you knit yours in?
