Baby gift you’ll return to over and over

If you’re also in the midst of another wave of new babies arriving amongst your families and friends, you can guarantee a chorus of “Awww!” at any baby shower with Saartje’s Booties. A free pattern, it’s available in English and Dutch and allows an almost unlimited array of options when it comes to personalisation. It’s also an excellent way to use up scraps left over from other projects.

Yarn-wise, the world is pretty much your oyster, so don’t feel you have to stick to standard baby pastels, although that’s fine if the recipient is into those shades. Babies look great in bright colours, so use these as an opportunity to go wild! Base-wise, choose something that is going to have a little structure in the knitted fabric, to ensure they don’t become too baggy and fall off little kicking legs.

What would you knit yours in?

#FreeYourSkeins2015 is a Project 365 by The Golden Skein. Want to find out more about it? Check out this page for details.
