We’ve fallen head-first into another beaded knitting trap on day 2, with the Spiral Stars Cowl by Diane L Augustin. This will be free until 4 January 2015 and paid thereafter, and is a pattern for a knitted, beaded cowl. There are three different variations in the pattern, based on mathematical sequences, and as you will see from the project page, it lends itself brilliantly to all kinds of dyeing techniques. A long repeat self stripe looks stunning, and the textured pattern allows the beauty of a variegated yarn to shine through without being too overpowering. And then there’s the beads. Oh the beads!
You could easily knit this pattern without beads, but they do take the simple stitch pattern to the next level and offer another opportunity to experiment with finding a perfect combination with your chosen yarn. Like Kunye yesterday, this pattern can cope with almost any yarn blend.
